Everyone Should Get A Flu Shot.

If you’re a New Mexican, you should get your flu shot this year – particularly if you are a member of one or more of the following groups:
  • People age 65 and older
  • Young children, especially those under 2 years old
  • American indian and alaska natives
  • People with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease
  • Pregnanat women and up to 2 weeks postpartum
  • Morbidly obese persons

When is flu season?

People can catch the flu year-round, but the flu season generally lasts October – May.

Where can I get my flu shot?

The New Mexico Department of Health and private providers throughout the state have the flu shot available for New Mexicans.

Preventing the flu starts with healthy habits.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick – and if you are sick, stay home.

Wash your hands.

Wash your hands often with soap and water; if soap and water are not available, and hands are not visibly soiled, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
